Careful selection of leathers
At Nomasei, each leather is selected not only for its aesthetic qualities and comfort, but also to meet our ethical and sustainable standards. We work exclusively with tanneries with international certifications such as Reach or members of the Leather Working Group. With over thirty years' cumulative experience, we have built up trust-based relationships with these partners, ensuring complete traceability: from the origin of the animals to the management of the tanneries.
The leathers come from France, Italy and Holland and are tanned in Italy, near Montopoli in Tuscany.
The factory distinguishes itself by its constant questioning of processes to be ever more virtuous, the use of clean materials such as solvent-free glues and a network of small family businesses sharing common values.
Faced with the debate on ethical leather, we have adopted a nuanced approach :
- Metal Free Leather : This leather excludes the use of metals in tanning in favor of synthetic processes. Although it requires more water, this can be reused thanks to a closed circuit. This technique combines aesthetics and ecology, with supple leathers that are deep in color and pleasant to the touch.
- Vegetable tanning : Although ethical, it has its limitations for certain products, such as shoes, due to its drier, thicker texture.
