The first Nomasei ballerinas
FLIP
FLIP is the first ballerina model designed and launched by Nomasei. Its name was inspired by a skateboarding trick that is as basic as it is difficult: flipping the board in the air while jumping, and landing with both feet firmly on the board as it continues to roll. It’s a beautiful image that captures the daily lives of millions of women.
Between work, responsibilities, family life, meetings, sports, and everything else that comes with it, all of our lives take the form of a constant somersault. This is where FLIP comes in: enveloping, flexible, soft.
It’s like a place of rest, a tool that makes daily life easier. FLIP helps us land steadily on both feet, all while continuing to move forward.
With its small 2cm heel, this first pair of Nomasei ballet flats is designed to protect your back. A cushion has been placed over the Achilles tendon for an immediate feeling of a soft pillow, a memory foam insole as always, and an ergonomic shape that supports without constricting.
As always at Nomasei, FLIP required several months of development and adjustments before its launch. Its launch was even deliberately delayed: we didn’t want to simply create just another ballet flat, but one capable of combining elegance, support, and absolute comfort.
After an extensive period of wear-testing, several details were refined to achieve the perfect balance: heel height, flexibility of construction, foot support, and comfort at the back.
Like all Nomasei models, FLIP was designed with sustainable and responsible production in mind. Made in Italy from carefully selected materials, it is produced in small batches to avoid overproduction and waste. Each stage of production takes place near our partner workshop to minimize unnecessary transportation and preserve valuable artisanal craftsmanship.
At Nomasei, sustainability isn’t just about a product’s composition: it’s also about its ability to stand the test of time—to be worn for years, repaired, cherished, and kept season after season. FLIP was conceived as a timeless ballerina, designed to accompany the movements of daily life for years to come.
